Turriff bounce back to happier times with impressive win
TURRIFF United bounced back from their Aberdeenshire Shield final defeat with a convincing 3-1 win at Keith on Saturday.
Manager Ross Jack revealed that the midweek match hadn’t even been spoken about in the run-up to the visit to Kynoch Park.
"The players were hurting after the final and we didn’t need to speak about it," he said.
Jack was impressed by the first half performance which saw Turriff take the lead after just three minutes when Cammy Bowden powered home a free header from an Andy MacAskill corner.
Gary Harris chipped wide of an open goal a minute later and only a superb double save from Cammy Bell denied Aaron McKenna and MacAskill adding a second in eight minutes.

Paul Young made it 2-0 with a 25-yarder which blazed low into the net after 18 minutes, and as the one-way traffic continued Harris had a shot on the break blocked by Bell.
United were given a jolt in 55 minutes when Matty McDonald was able to shrug off two challenges in a 40-yard run, rounding keeper Greg Sim to reduce the leeway.
But the visitors were back in charge three minutes later as James Brownie sent a looping header from a free-kick over Bell into the far corner of the net.
Sub Gary McGowan should have stretched the lead further but hit the woodwork instead, and there were strong claims for a penalty as Brownie went down in the box in 68 minutes.
While satisfied by the display, Jack said he would be looking to bring in some new faces but denied he would be embarking on a signing spree.
"We don’t have the kind of money some Highland League clubs have," he added.
