BURGHEAD hammer thrower Mark Dry and Keith runner Rebecca Matheson have been selected as part of Scotland's Commonwealth Games squad.
Dry, from Burghead, recently celebrated a return to the Scotland squad after a 28-month-long ban for falsely imposing his whereabouts after missing a doping test.
The initial ban was four years, but Dry, who also lost his place on the British Athletics support funding programme and has to pay for his own travel, fought against its severity.
The two-time Commonwealth bronze medallist will hope this call up can put all of that in the past as he gets set to focus on competing in an impressive fourth successive Games.
Dry will be joined in the 33-strong athletics squad by former Keith Grammar School pupil Rebecca Matheson, who is a member at Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club.
Matheson has been selected as part of the 4x100 metres squad for the Games, which are due to get under way in Birmingham at the end of July. She will be making her Commonwealth Games debut.
The squad is led by team manager Julie Mollison and head coach Mark Pollard.

“Being picked for Scotland for a Commonwealth Games is always an exciting moment and we congratulate athletes, their coaches and their families on selection. We acknowledge, too, the huge role played by numerous Scottish clubs in the development of these athletes over a number of years.
“It bears repetition on these occasions that success in athletics isn’t achieved overnight or anything like it.
"In so many cases, this is the culmination of many years of hard work, good coaching and development work by clubs along the pathway.”
