MacMoray Festival organiser Andy Macdonald says this is the ‘biggest’ festival yet

The organiser for one of the northeast’s most popular music festivals says this year is the “biggest”.

This weekend the MacMoray Easter Festival, which is held at Cooper Park in Elgin, is set to return for the last time.

This is the event’s fifth year running, and we’ll see 29 acts perform across Saturday and Sunday.

Andy Macdonald, who’s the mastermind behind MacMoray, says he wants everyone “buzzing” at the festival.

The 41-year-old businessman said: “I’m really looking forward to the whole thing.

“Each year, the festival gets better. We’re flying, we’ve got more toilets and we’re organised, making it as good as we can.

“I love it and love being with the team who makes it happen.”

Around 10,000 people will pack into the park on both days, eager to see their favourite groups in action.

The running order for the MacMoray Festival has been confirmed, with Ultrabeat to close Saturday and Nathan Evans top of Sunday’s bill.

Andy says the performance he’s most looking forward to is Happy Place by Saint Phnx and Nathan Evans.

However, what he’s most excited about is the lack of rain in the weekend’s weather forecast.

He explained: “I’ve been fixated on the weather, I’ve been checking this weekend’s forecast every single day, and it is looking like it is going to be dry so I am over the moon.”

Andy says he wants nothing but good energy at the festival.

The dad-of-one said: “If you’re having a bad day, stay away! We want nothing but positive vibes at the festival, no Karens, this is a happy place.

“Along with your positivity, bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, snacks, and have the best time.”

When asked about how he feels about the uncertain future of MacMoray, Andy said he wasn’t sure.

He added: “I am focused on nothing but this MacMoray. I want everyone to be buzzing.

“Don’t forget that we open at 11am on both days, and at the end of the festival on Sunday, I’ll be going on stage with some surprises!

“This is the biggest one yet, the tickets are almost sold out, so if you want to buy any, you need to act fast.”
