Presidential appointments for Daviot and King Edward SWIs





At the latest meeting of Daviot SWI, the president welcomed members to the AGM and the chairperon’s, secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were all presented and all office bearers were re-elected.

The prizes for most points for the year were presented with Margaret Collie in first place, Elsie Thomson second and Margaret A Green third.

Margaret Collie received the Taylor Cup.

Business was conducted with next year’s syllabus discussed and the summer outing planned.

The competitions were judged as follows-

Suggestions for syllabus – 1 Margart Collie; 2 Sheila Peddie and 3 equal Elsie Thomson and Isabel Gordon.

My favourite vase – 1 Sheila Peddie; 2 Isabel Gordon and 3 Margaret Collie.

After tea provided by Jacqui Howard members played a great fun game of Left, Right and Centre which Jacqui won at another very enjoyable afternoon.

At the meeting of King Edward SWI Linda Thom welcomed 23 members plus seven guests from Fyvie to the April AGM.

The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved.

This was followed by the majority of the business of the evening.

The annual reports were then read, the secretary’s, the president’s and the treasurer’s, all of which were approved.

Mary, standing in for Helen, gave the response saying that the group gave friendship to all who came and praised Linda for her hard work, her sense of fun and all she does for our group.

It was then the turn of Fyvie to oversee the voting in of the new committee while their members entertained us. In the meantime the new committee is as follows -

President - Linda Thom: vice president - Mary Farquher; secretary - Eva Collins: treasurer - Edith Hay (to be shadowed by Kathleen Mustard): raffles/competitions - Dianne Smith and Elaine Morrison: teas - Eleanor Wood (shadowed by Kathleen Mustard).

The Group Delegate will be Mary Farquhar.

The entertainment consisted of a taste and try, a royal quiz, a smelling test and another sing-along.

This was followed by the usual tasty refreshments this time provided by Lizzy and Jane Baker and Elaine Morrison and the drawing of the raffle. The Trophies were then handed out:

Flower of the Month: 1 And Rose Bowl - Dianne Smith; 2 and Jug - LindaThom and 3 equal Eva Collins, May Wilson and Barbara Watt.

Competitions: 1 and Cup - Diane Smith; 2 and Quaich - Linda Thom and 3 and Small Trophy - May Wilson.

The Competition winners for the night were as follows-

Flower of the month - 1 Linda Thom; 2 Dianne Smith and 3 Eva Collins.

Competitions - 1 Dianne Smith; 2 Linda Thom and 3 Kathleen Mustard.

Speakers - 1 Sheila Donaldson; 2 Dianne Smith and 3 Barbara Watt.

The vote of thanks was given by Mary Farquhar, to Fyvie for their entertainment, to the previous committee for their hard work, to the hostesses for their lovely spread, to Linda once again and to all who attend.
