North East Open Studio debut for Huntly based landscape artist
On Monday, September 11 internationally renowned artist, Donna Louise Irvine, from Garrowood near Huntly, will join an award-winning collective of fellow artists, makers and designers who will open their studios to the public for North East Open Studios (NEOS) 2023.
With a diverse range of creatives exhibiting their work, the annual NEOS event is a unique opportunity for the public to meet and chat with individual artists, see their inspirations and working methods, and discover the wealth of talent in the north-east of Scotland.
This is Donna’s first year of exhibiting as part of NEOS, and she decided to turn her holiday home business, The Clearing, into an impressive studio space, to allow visitors the opportunity to view her latest exhibit intitled The Understory.
The former Gray’s School of Art Graduate is a landscape artist who is interested in interpreting the story of a landscape through expressive bold combinations of colour, energetic lines and a selection of poetry and prose, some self-written, others sourced from her love of books and words.
Her paintings are in private collections in the UK, Ireland, Europe, and America and her work has featured in a variety of print media and she has had previous successful solo exhibitions in Scotland.
Donna commented: “We finished building our eco holiday home, The Clearing, last year so this is the first time I have had the perfect light-filled space to exhibit my paintings and get involved with NEOS.
"Over the last few years, I have exhibited my work online, via Instagram and my website, which has proved to be very popular, but I still believe that the best way of experiencing and viewing art is by standing in front of a painting. I am excited about my latest exhibition and very much look forward to welcoming people to The Clearing and talking to them about my work.”
Donna’s exhibition will take place from Monday 11 until Sunday 17- opening hours are 10am until 5pm at The Clearing, Garrowood, Huntly, Aberdeenshire AB54 4TS.
