Banff Academy pupils connect with Palestinian students in Bethlehem on project





A project which has seen school pupils link up with students in Bethlehem has been recognised by the Scottish Parliament.

Youngsters at Banff Academy have been working alongside renowned Palestinian street artist Taqi Spateen and the Bethlehem Cultural Festival to create artwork.

Pupils from Hussan School for Boys in Bethlehem have been working alongside the Aberdeenshire academy.

Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam has lodged a motion in Holyrood to recognise the work that has been done.

She said: “I was delighted to lodge a motion in parliament recognising the truly inspiring Banff to Bethlehem project by Banff Academy.

“This extraordinary initiative sees S2 pupils exploring art and sustainability, working alongside renowned Palestinian street artist Taqi Spateen and the Bethlehem Cultural Festival to create something truly special.

“Through creativity and storytelling, this project transcends borders, raising awareness and celebrating resilience, culture and connection.

“Meanwhile, pupils from Hussan School for Boys in Bethlehem have been working alongside Banff Academy, strengthening global friendships through art.

“The upcoming exhibition will bring all of this incredible work together, showcasing a vision of collaboration, creativity and shared humanity.

“I cannot wait to attend and see firsthand the impact of this remarkable project
