At dissolution, every seat in the House of Commons becomes vacant. All business in the House comes to an end. MPs stop representing their constituencies. There will be no MPs until after the general election. Those who wish to be MPs again must stand again as candidates for election.

The next major step is on day 6 - Friday, June 7 which is the deadline for submitting or withdrawing a nomination (4pm) and publication of statement of persons nominated (5pm). This is followed in turn on Day 13, Tuesday June 18 with deadline to register to vote (midnight) and Day 14 the deadline for new postal vote applicants or amending existing absent voting arrangements.
