Coronavirus update: Weekend case numbers continue to reflect lockdown efforts





Scotland saw a further fall in positive cases overnight as a total of 1341 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours compared to 1753 the previous day.

This equated to 9.5 per cent of those tested (8.4 the previous day).

The NHS Greater Glasgow area saw 412 (466) cases, Lanarkshire 226 (295) and Lothian 123 (169).

NHS Grampian also saw a decrease with 131 cases (163) as did NHS Highland with 43 cases (54).

The NHS Grampian area recorded 1068 cases in the last seven days taking the overall total to 11,141.

Public Health Scotland's most up to date figures cover the seven days between January 8 and January 14 show Aberdeenshire recorded 389 positive cases (down from 438 the previous day) which equated to 7.9 per cent of all tests carried out (down from 8.5 per cent) and a positive test rate per 100,000 population of 149.8 (down from 167.7).

For the same time period, Aberdeen City saw 551 cases (down from 561) equating to 10.5 per cent of all tests (equal) and positive test rate of 241.0per 100,000 (down from 245.3).

In the daily area figures the sustained fall in cases was seen in most areas across Aberdeenshire with the exception of a small increase in the Newmachar area, with several areas including Turriff, Clasindarroch, Westhill and Aberchirder back down to the baseline 0-2 case level.
