Opportunity to try rugby on offer to families with Banff Rugby Club
Families are being invited to join Banff Rugby Club for free rugby activity sessions.
Starting on Saturday, September 11, at Duff House in Banff the sessions offer an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to try rugby.
The programme will continue weekly through to Saturday 2 October, with sessions underway from 12.30pm to 2pm.
Activities will be based on touch, tag and walking rugby, with no contact between players, providing assurance of safety and no barriers regarding age, ability or fitness levels for those considering taking part.
Director of Rugby at Banff Rugby Club, Andy Smith, said: “These sessions offer a great opportunity for whole families to take part and try rugby.
"A chance to meet new people, play as part of a team and boost personal skills and fitness.
"We recognise that lockdown has had a detrimental effect on the health and wellbeing of many, so decided to offer these informal and relaxed sessions for everyone to enjoy.
"If they prove popular, we may look at continuing them on a longer term basis.”
Funding for the programme has been secured from the Scottish Government’s Get Into Summer campaign, distributed locally by Aberdeenshire Council and Aberdeenshire Clubsport.
Participants are welcome to come along on the day to take part. Outdoor clothing and suitable footwear are recommended.
