Auchtercrag care home appoints new manager
Auchtercrag House in Ellon has announced the appointment of new care home manager, Fiona Foy.
She started her career at Auchtercrag House over 20 years ago, and returns with a wealth of experience. She first joined the home as a community placement as part of a Higher National Certificate in Health and Social Care in 1999, then worked there in a carer position after qualification.
Since then Fiona has stayed in the Aberdeenshire area and has gained experience in criminal justice social work, residential children’s services and caring for adults with learning disabilities. Most recently, Fiona was the manager of the residential, respite and supported living services for Aberdeenshire Council.
In her new role, Fiona will also oversee the management for Auchmacoy Lodge which forms part of Auchtercrag House. Auchmacoy Lodge comprises eight en-suite bedrooms and offers excellent care for its residents, including those living with dementia.
Talking on her appointment, Fiona said: “At Auchtercrag we strive to provide a relaxed and happy atmosphere combined with high quality, personalised care.
"Making our residents feel looked after and at home is our top priority.
"Since I joined Auchtercrag, everyone has been so welcoming and supportive and I know I’m part of a team who really want to make a difference.
“My dad has been living at Auchtercrag for the last two years, so I’m in a very fortunate position starting as care home manager that I already know the residents well.
"I’m looking forward to getting to know our residents and their families better and building up these relationships.
"I’m delighted to be back at Auchtercrag at this point of my career.”
Auchtercrag House, part of the Meallmore group, is a purpose-built 71-bed care facility set within Ellon which has been open since 1996.
