Ellon United held to a draw with Culter

Ellon United were held to a draw by Culter in the latest encounter with a late injury time penalty in the second half denying the home side a hard fought victory.

The match started at a fast pace with both teams pressing for the opener, but it took until the 35th minute for the home side to take the lead. After a set piece the ball broke to the edge of the box where centre half Harris Clubb hit a fantastic strike into the bottom left hand corner. The remainder of the first half saw both sides with chances but none taken.

Half Time 1-0

This fabulous match continued into the second half and a great move down the right hand side resulted in Harris Clubb again finishing smartly in the box to give Ellon a well deserved 2-0 lead. With around 15 minutes to go the away side were awarded a very controversial penalty, which was duly converted. 2-1

Again chances at both ends but on the 90th minute a throw in from the left was headed over the home keeper to make it 2-2.

More drama in the fifth minute of injury time saw the away side awarded another penalty, but a fabulous save by Oscar Pirie in the last action of the match saw the final whistle and a full time result of Ellon Utd 2 – 2 Culter
